While Avianca said goodbye to the widebody, another South American airline is about to resume flights with the A330-200, Boliviana de Aviación (BoA). Boliviana welcomed its first Airbus A330-200. The aircraft, CP-3209 (1561) arrived at Santa Cruz from Chateauroux where it received the airline’s new livery.
Boliviana last year decided to lease the Airbus to replace its ageing fleet of four Boeing B767-300ERs. In total, the airline is planning to lease three A330s but taking delivery of the aircraft has been very uncertain due to financial difficulties of the airline.
The arrival of the first aircraft has, therefore, immediately raised an outcry in the Bolivian parliament and questions to the reponsible minister. Due to this, it’s uncertain when Boliviana will start flying its new type commercially.
