An unmanned Iranian drone allegedly on a spying mission was shot down by a PAF JF-17 Thunder fighter jet in Balochistan Panjgur area 45km inside Pakistan territory. Iranian S-129 UAV was operating deep inside Pakistani airspace. Air Defence units of the Pakistan Air Force spotted Iranian drone and issued an Air Defence alert.

JF-17 Thunder of No. 2 Squadron allocated at PAF Base Masroor responded to Air Defence alert and shoot down UAV at 3 am in Parom area of Panjgur district. The wreckage of the Iranian S-129 UAV was later recovered by local Security forces. PAF later confirmed that JF-17 thunder has scored its First Air-to-Air Kill.

The PAC JF-17 Thunder is a lightweight, single-engine, multi-role combat aircraft produced by Pakistan Air Force.

Till now PAF has produced 100+ units of JF-17 Thunder (Block 1 and 2). It is a Symbol of Pakistan excellence in the Aviation Industry. Myanmar and Nigeria have already placed the order of purchase of JF-17 Thunder.
