GWADAR: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has made a significant announcement on Sunday, revealing that the Gwadar International Airport has been granted permission for night landing operations. The CAA has issued instructions to all airlines and aviation companies to commence night operations at the airport starting from September.
However, it should be noted that overnight parking of aircraft will not be permitted at the airport, as clarified by the CAA. This development marks a major milestone in the ongoing progress of the airport.
Earlier in March, Federal Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal directed the CAA to ensure the completion of all development projects related to the airport by September 2023. Furthermore, he urged the authority to present a comprehensive plan of action within three days for the execution and implementation of the remaining tasks.
The Gwadar International Airport, constructed as part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), is a joint project between China and the Pakistan Aviation Authority (PAA). The airport is designed to handle various types of aircraft, including ATR 72, Airbus (A-300), Boeing (B-737), and Boeing (B-747), for both domestic and international routes.
Considered the largest airport in Pakistan, the Gwadar International Airport is expected to be formally inaugurated for international flights in September of this year. The development of this airport holds significant importance in promoting connectivity and facilitating economic growth in the region, particularly in relation to the Gwadar port and the overall CPEC initiative.
