Re-equipment ceremony held at No. 1 Fighter Conversion Unit, PAF Base Mianwali

ISLAMABAD: The Re-equipment ceremony held at No 1 Fighter Conversion Unit, PAF Base Mianwali Thursday marked the end of long and illustrious services rendered by veteran Chinese FT-5 fighter trainer aircraft.

No 1 FCU, is now being re-equipped with modern state-of-the-art K-8P fighter trainer aircraft. Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force was the Chief Guest at the occasion.

The Chief Guest while addressing at the occasion said, “PAF has always matched numbers with quality training.

In this regard the advanced and focused training at No 1 FCU on K-8P aircraft would assist Pakistan Air Force to remain an air force second to none.

This aircraft will play an important role in the training of our pilots for the future and will have a significant impact on the Ops Readiness of the PAF.”

The event included the re-equipment ceremony parade and General Salute to the Chief Guest.

Later, a formation of 01 FT-5 and 02 K-8P aircraft presented a fly past. Large number of serving and retired PAF airmen including the veterans and Ex-Officers’ Commanding of No 1 FCU attended the ceremony.

No 1 Fighter Conversion Unit was established at PAF Base Masroor with Chinese built FT-5 aircraft on 28 April 1975 and was later shifted to PAF Base, Mianwali in November, 1975. The unit provides fighter flying training to the newly graduated pilots of PAF.
